Adoptable Dogs

At Basset Hound Rescue League, we have deserving dogs that have been rescued, and possibly been nursed back to health, available for adoption. Take a few minutes to check out the dogs currently up for adoption, then get in touch with us to move the adoption process forward. All dogs come with complete vet visits to include vaccines, spay/neutering, special care, and sometimes training. Foster homes are provided with payment for all expenses associated with fostering.

FRANKIE-tricolor Basset Hound

7 year old Frankie is neutered, housebroken, and UTD on vaccines. Frankie enjoys walks and socialization with other humans. He is good with children, but prefers to be the only pet. Sweet-tempered with adults and older children who respects his needs (comfort, food, exercise), he needs a fenced yard, and lots of spoiling. If you're looking for a walking companion or a best friend for your current fur baby, look no further. Archie is a 3-year-old harrier/hound mix, weighing approximately 50 pounds. He is up to date on shots, heartworm negative, neutered, potty trained and walks pretty good on a leash. He is eager to learn and loves his belly and paw rubbed. Archie is a social pup and very dog friendly. He was the shelter's dog tester. He is good with kids and adults. He can scale a 3 1/2 foot fence, so he needs a 4 foot or higher fence. He is a fairly active dog and would enjoy an active family to care for him. He could be an only pup too, but would likely do better with a companion. He has been around small dogs as well as large dogs without a problem. Cats are unknown. If you're interested in this handsome guy, please fill out an application. He is currently in Annandale, VA with his foster parents, but transportation can be arranged to his furever home.

BEAU - Affectionate & loyal male Basset Hound - 3 yrs old

Meet Beau, a three-year-old neutered male Basset Hound with soulful eyes, floppy ears, and a heart full of love. Beau is a total people-dog who prefers to be the only pet in the home, where he can enjoy all the attention he deserves. He's incredibly sweet, affectionate, and a true cuddle bug, always happy to curl up close with his favorite humans. While Beau loves his downtime, he also enjoys having room to run and explore, making him a great fit for a home with some space to stretch his legs. He's excellent with handling, fully up to date on shots and fecal exams, and has four weeks of in-depth training, setting him up for success in his forever home. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion who wants to be your one-and-only, Beau may be the perfect match!

LINCOLN - Coonhound

Lincoln is a well-mannered and gentle soul with a heart of gold and a quiet, loyal nature. He is a friendly dog with a lot of love to give and is always eager to please.  Lincoln is a delight to be around and would make a wonderful companion. Roscoe - Sweet Male Coonhound Mix

Roscoe is a handsome, 4-yr black & tan Coonhound mix (microchipped). He came to BHRL after his primary owner passed from a fatal heart attack. The owner's family shared that Roscoe is a cuddly, loving, gentle, sweet, and funny dog who is eager to please.
 
Roscoe has benefitted from special K-9 basic and advanced training. The Shepherdstown, West Virginia K-9 facility has agreed to work and train with a new owner. Roscoe loves to ride and travel. He settles down in a vehicle and enjoys the ride! Roscoe prefers being the only pet in the home because he likes to get all the attention. He usually responds well to learned commands and will keep a home safe from intruders.
 
Roscoe does well on a leash. He is good with other people he meets on walks. At a dog park, he loves to run. At home, Roscoe likes to bring his toys into his crate. Even hide them! He loves to chase toys if you throw them. Roscoe barks when he's lonely, although TV as background sound can be comforting.
 
BHRL is seeking another home for Roscoe with someone who works from home or possibly is retired. A large fenced yard would be wonderful!
